The Dolomites – UNESCO World Heritage
The Dolomites are probably the most renowned and most characteristic mountains in South Tyrol. The landscape is characterised by green valleys surrounded by white peaks, lush meadows and rough mountain rocks. Nowhere else these natural contradictions are as close as here. Characteristic of the Dolomites are the bright rocks, that's why the Dolomites are also called the "Pale Mountains".
In 2009 the Dolomites were declared a World Nature Heritage site by UNESCO in order to protect this unique natural scenery. Discover this splendid paradise offering various options for hiking, mountain-biking, skiing or pure recreation. Enjoy the variety, the quietness and the wonderful panoramic landscape of the Dolomites.
